The Whalers of Harris

Ian Hart is a whaling historian with particular interest in the Falkland Islands and South Georgia. He has written ten books on the subject including one biography Antarctic Magistrate. Other books include Pesca, describing the history of the pioneer modern whaling company of the Antarctic, A History of Whaling Brazil written with a collaborator and Whaling in the Falkland Islands Dependencies 1904-1931 which was completed with the support of a Shackleton Scholarship. Ian was the first curator of the South Georgia Museum and is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society. He is an active conservationist and lives in rural Herefordshire.
